The Apple logo is displayed on an iPhone 6 on July 21, 2015 in San Francisco, California. Apple reported a 38 percent surge in third quarter earnings with a profit of $10.7 billion compared to $7.74 billion one year ago. The quarterly earnings were boosted by strong demand for the latest iPhones.

Apple Inc., the Cupertino tech giant might be planning well for its upcoming iPhone 8. Recent predictions from the KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that iPhone 8 will use a 5.8-inch OLED display panel, which also includes a space for virtual buttons.

According to Mac Rumors, the KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the new iPhone 8 will sport a 5.8-inch OLED display panel. It is suggested that the OLED panel will take up the entire front panel of the phone, which will keep the iPhone bezel free. With this type of design indications, it is believed that the iPhone 8 will end up having no physical home button with fingerprint recognition technology which is currently seen in the present iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

Kuo explains the mockup of how Apple is likely to plan all the features along with the display without the physical home button. Kuo says the OLED iPhone will have measurements similar to the 4.7-inch iPhone, allowing for one-handed operation. And Kuo suggests that this size is possible with a 5.8-inch panel because there will be no extra space outside of the display. Also, Kuo noted that it will feature a display similar in size to the 5.5-inch iPhone, but in a 4.7-inch package.

Kuo also suggests that along with the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone, the company is predicted to offer standard 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LCD iPhones which might include glass bodies and wireless charging. But, there are no suggestions yet on what these two new iPhones might have in terms of specifications and features.

Kuo says that the OLED iPhone will be “the only bright spot” in the 2017 iPhone lineup. As
OLED iPhone will eliminate the Home button, and invite new features in the tech market. The features that might be included are like the “other biometric technologies – iris or facial recognition.

Kuo also says that battery life in the upcoming OLED iPhone will have a major change when compared to the present iPhones. Apple is expected to introduce a stacked logic board design to support bigger batteries and longer battery life.

There are no official statements yet on the upcoming iPhone for 2017; however, readers are requested to take all the rumors with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates
